Old motorboat

Hey, so I have this old glas fiber boat, noticed it was sitting way below the painter water line and so I lifted the "top" off which was glued and pop rivited to the hull and there was this mass of foam in the back which was soaked with water and then I also found a cavity in the front hull which i opened up and now the boat is turned over so all the water can run out but I can't imagine that its all thats needed to make it float properly again. Does anyone know if I have to open the whole thing up or somethin?
I'm also wondering if I need to replace the foam or if I can just leave it hollow, does the foam really add boyancy when it's dry or is it there for another reason?

Many boats have suffered from cheap / poor quality foam.-----Remove all the waterlogged foam.----Then it will float properly again.
