Point gap VP V8

Looking for point gap spec and dwell for a volvo v8. Have no idea what actual engine is or model #, went from 305 to a 350.Somebody fried the points and wiring to dist, has a new quadrajet. That is all info I have. Have old school dwell meter and tach, is dwell like old chevy, 30 degrees? All replacement parts are marine certified. Dist cap is screwed down, found points and condenser from Sierra that match. Just trying to get boat running again for a friend. Has a VP 270 drive. Going to have to rewire lots of things, had been done before but not very well.
Thanks for any replies,

Yes..... use a dwell meter!
Setting gap is an estimate only of correct dwell angle.

The distributor has 360° of rotation in which to fire all eight cylinders.
That equals 45° of rotation per cylinder.
Of that 45°, the points cam closes the contacts for 30° to 31°, of which equates to “coil saturation“ angle.
