Honda BF45 no reverse.

I have a honda BF45 tiller, while at the river this wknd I lost reverse. Used it to unload, then tried reverse about an hour later and it would not shift, however it goes into F and N just fine. Just looking for ideas as to what I might be looking for. thanks for any help
 
In the midsection of the engine, you will find an adjustment on the shift shaft. In short, the locking nut on top of the long nut is not tight. Adjust the long nut up or down till you can shift into each gear then tighten the small nut to the long nut using two 10mm or 12mm wrenches.
 
Thanks for the reply, I adjusted the nut on the shift rod both directions and still couldn’t get into reverse. When I move the shifter toward reverse the shift rod only moves about 1/10 of an inch
 
iang6766, I haven’t tried your advice yet but I will tmrw. I can get it to go into reverse by pushing the linkage with a screw driver but it doesn’t want to stay engaged once I do that
