I have a Volvo penta 3.0gl carbuerated with electronic ignition, coil, and distributor with ignition module and pickup coil.
Last season the boat overheated, the exhaust temp sensor melted, the alternator wire melted through from the heat and blew the 15 amp ignition fuse. The engine did not want to shut down. It was detonating at a very low idle of roughly 100 rpm for probably a minute.
Before replacing any components, the 15 amp fuse was replaced, the wire grounding out was isolated and a compression test was performed. Compression was good and even.
Replaced the exhaust temp.sensor
Tried starting the boat and found no spark. Checked power at the coil and have 12 volts.
Replaced the coil, wires, ignition module, pickup coil in the distributor, spark plugs. Still no spark.
Any suggestions? Or ideas on what else can kill spark. It is in an 07ish stingray 185ls.
Safety lanyard switch functions correctly as well as shift lock out.
Boat cranks fine just no spark.
