Binnacle for 2006 md 50 b TLDI

I have a Mercury gen 2 binnacle I would like to use with the Tohatsu tldi if I can find cables that fit.

Is is the neutral start switch in the Mercury compatible with the Tohatsu?

Yes. The neutral safety prevents cranking in gear. Tohatsu uses standard cables, so you just need to find the correct ends for the Merc control.
