Been looking for a while, and it seems the few 35's I find are all pre 1985....Is there a reason for this? I'm fairly new to this stuff, but it seems the 20,25,and 30 are relatively easy to find....Anyone else notice this??

Any reason you are ruling out the 1984 year? I have one and I love it and it's not for sale. Maybe that's a reason you can't find one.

I believe in 85 they started rating hp at the prop vs the crank....Unless the 35 was the exception. So a post 1985 35 hp would be about the equivelent of a pre 85 40 hp roughly.....I just figured there would be more of them out there. the 20 25 and 30 i can find plenty of in 1985-2000 models

Nope they are all the same.

The highest power out put of that block was 35 hp at the crankshaft from 76 to 84.--------Thus in 1985 it was exactly the same motor with a 30HP decal.

My 1988 30 hp can't outrun my 1989 25 up Merc. But my 1982 35 up was faster than both I miss that motor. The 35 hp was not rebadged as a 30 up because they made a 35 after 1984. And the.smaller 2 cylinders never really got a prop rating.

Those 3 cylinder, 3 carburetor , oil injected 35 HP motors were short lived from 95 to 2001 I believe.-------But there could be 50 /35 HP models of JET POWER that are 3 cylinders.------Then there are always 35 HP decals that can be put on motors that have 30 at the prop.-----Sometimes it is difficult to grasp it all.

Did you test them all on the same boat??...and did they all have the same pitch prop?
