Yamaha 60 tilt stops and starts

We have a Yamaha F60 circa 2012 with 250 hours on the clock.

We launched it after a 4 month lay up and the engine tilted up and down fine, we started it and all good, we then tilted it up to do checks and when we tried to tilt it down there was no movement.

Both switches work, the relay clicks (new last year) and the tilt motor runs but no movement???

We went to manual and lowered the engine and then tilted it up manually (heavy) and still no movement.

The next day it worked just fine again. Sounded normal.

Any one have any ideas why it stopped working for that time even though the tilt motor was running.

My thought is that air got in there somehow, and then when you manually tilted it up & down, that basically bled the air out. I would check the fluid level though.. if none flows out of the fill/check hole, then add more, tilt it up and down a few times, then top it off.
