1996 Mercury 150XL Trim Cyl. Leak

1996 Merc 150 OG6319468 Started last year with the trim motor going out. Replaced it with a Mercury replacement part. My son said it was leaking so we set the motor trim manually and left it. This year decide to fix the issue and rebuilt the cyls with Quicksilver O ring kit [811612A 3]. All cyl were rebuilt, but the tilt cyl. which I thought came in the kit but didn't. The 6 o rings on the bottom cross shaft were included in the kit and were replaced. The leak occurs at the left [port] side of the tilt cyl at the cross shaft [very bottom]. The casting on the bottom of this cyl [where the cross pin goes thur looks to be eroded away in a small area and this is where I believe the oil is coming from when the trim cyls are retracted. Is there any repair other than that $1,000 replacement cyl? Boat has always ran in fresh water. Thank

Depending on how bad it's eroded away. You might be able to weld it. If you know a good welder. Or you could try some JB weld.

You cannot weld it,

The o-ring lands corrode away, it is not repairable, you have to replace the pump assembly.

Thats what I was afraid of. If I was still working I'd try to set it up on a jig bore and cut another groove but...Thanks
