Best way to lift the engine?

My 225 sits on a jack plate and I'd like to mount it higher on the plate as it's on the lowest position (i.e. the top mounting holes) at the moment.

I have an engine hoist that easily capable of lifting the 225 so no issues there. My question is, should I simply attach something to the two lift eyes on top of the engine or something else?

My concern is that when I remove the top two mounting bolts the engine may swing backwards away from the jack plate and bend something (i.e. the lower bolts) - does it help to tilt the engine up a bit so that the C of G is more over the jack plate than behind it?

You're on it,yes, use the two rear lifting eyes , take up tension, remove the lower bolts first, then ss you loosen the top bolts tilt the motor to keep the transom bracket parallel to the transom
