1976 Evinrude 6 hp. Serial number

I have a 1976 6 hp evinrude long shaft for 25 years now. It's a model 6605. But the serial number is pilot-2. Any explanation to this? Thanks

No explanation at all.----The serial # is on the tag or should be.

That's what's on the tag right under the model number. Wonder if it was a factory test model?
