Hey everyone I bough a boat a couple weeks ago from someone, and he was able to start it up for me when I picked it up ran good and sounded good. The next day went to start it up again before I put it on the water and all that would happen is the choke would click starter would not engage. Upon further inspection found a ground wire that was completely melted and it was connected from the tree to a bolt holding the breaker fuse next to the starter solenoid down.. I cannot find any wiring diagrams for it but it doesnt seem right. I replaced the wire but moved the ground to a different bolt on the case. It will start but I dont trust it seeing it died again while I was on the lake but the wire did not melt.... got home tightened things up and it would start...
P.s the there is one wire ground wire coming from the main wire harness (not the engine harness) and the ground added I connected to the case.
