F150 reduced the idling RPM when closing the top cowling

Yamaha F150, set idling speed at 750 rpm, next close the top cowling, the engine shuts down.

Then set the idling speed at 1000 rpm, next close the top cowling, the engine rpm reduced to 700 rpm, and operated smooth at any throttle position

Please advice,

What model year is it? I would say something is restricting air flow. Does it only happen on cold startup, or does it happen even after the engine is warmed up? If it happens on both cold and warm startup, I would guess the cowling is putting a kink in one of the fuel lines.

This makes zero sense. The cowling is open to air by way of vents. Amd if the fuel line is being pinched when you attempt to snap down the cowling you'd feel it....doesn't take much downward force to lock down the 4 latches.
