Tohatsu 9.8 cooling problem

Yes, it's basically a round hole. Here is another photo of it. FYI, I brought the motor to a nearby dealer yesterday to see if they can figure it out.

Problem finally solved! I gave up trying to figure the source of the problem and brought it to a Tohatsu dealer. Turns out that the hole out of which water was shooting (see photo in post #5) is supposed to be plugged. Somehow, the stainless steel dowel that would normally plug the hole had blown out. The tech who diagnosed it said the Tohatsu people insist it had not been installed at the factory. However, the motor ran fine for at least 20 hours before showing any signs of a problem, so I believe it had been installed and simply popped loose. In any event, neither of them had ever heard of this problem. It was repaired under warranty by threading the hole and screwing in a stainless steel bolt.
