Broken telltale port

Guys I broke the pee nipple that fits into the cowl while trying to unclog the hose. I was successful in unclogging the line, but the fish are calling my name and the nipple is several days out. Can I safely rig the hose to exit the cowl for one trip to the river? Maybe cut a piece of plastic to hold it on the outside of the cowl and silicone it there? Is there any risk of engine damage?

The hose has nothing to do with the actual cooling of the motor.----Plug it and go fishing.-----You have tested your overheat horn I hope !
 
They have used overheat horns on Johnson / Evinrude outboards since 1972 or so.-----Best to learn how to test yours !!!!
