1989 Force ,85 hp, 856X9H, prop seal

Got monofilament in prop. Decided to replace prop seal. Pulled out spool.Factory manual says to take out seal with a punch. No such luck. Do I have to take it to machine shop and have it pressed out along with the roller bearing?
 
No just pry it out, don't go too deep on the side and score the surface.

It should just pry easily.
Make sure you install the new one the same way the old came out.

Some seals had a metal ring that when hit with a punch the sides would pucker and the seal came out easily.
 
It shouldn't be that hard to remove.

If you use this tool just be careful not to dig too deep.

An awls sharp point along the edge of the seal.

Again not too deep.
