no spark fire to main post on solinoid

should there be 12v at small post on solenoid with key on?i have voltage at small pos post when cranking but no voltage with just key on.ck merc switch its ok tried starting with black and yellow wire off at merc switch and switch box.no spark .the fuse on yellow wire with red stripe blew when changing battery out,but stater still cks out ok along with trigger test at swith box.Would appreciate your ideas or advie on what to do next.could the srarter solenoid cause no spark?Thank you for any help you might give

Small post on the solenoid only receives 12 volts when the key is turned to start. The 2 bigger posts one has constant 12 volts from battery and the other goes to the starter
As for your other question about no spark. What hp of engine are we talking about. 2 stroke or 4 stroke what year . Need more information

There should be a fuse on the red wire. It has a black rubber boot. It's the main fuse for the ignition. Make sure you take the fuse out to test it.

yes it was bad replace it still no fire to any plug.it was starting up and running great before this happened.it didnt have fire when i first bought it.pulled flywheel cleand up stater and trigger magnets and bingo fired right up

You may have fried the switch box. When you accidentally put the battery cables backwards. Not sure if anyone else is reading this. Might have a better idea of what happened
