Engine Fogging

I am doing my 100 hour service, last time I had a mechanic do it and he fogged the motor as part of the service, even though the boat was not being stored for any length of time (live in s Fla, boat more or less always in use). But everything I'm seeing, including the manual, talks about fogging as being something you do only ahead of storage. So is there any benefit to fogging an engine as part of routine maintenance unrelated to long term storage? 2003 90hp 2-stroke Yamaha.

I'm not aware of any benefits other than protection from rust during long-term storage. You're just coating the pistons with oil, basically, and it burns off after you run it the first time after being fogged.
