Gimbal bearing or u joint

I have a 18’ bow rider 1998 4.3 merc. With an Alpha 1 gen II. Last year towards the end of the season, like second to last time I had it out it started making a grinding/rumbling/grumbling vibration noise when turning to the right at moderately to high open throttle. No abnormal sound when turning to the left under any circumstances. At low throttle there was no apparent noise either.

As it was at the end of the year I had it winterised and stored. Out of sight out of mind...but now that punxatawney Phil has predicted an early spring it got me thinking about it again.

From the best I can tell from researching and reading posts it is most likely a gimbal bearing or a U-joint....any suggestions as to which is more likely?

Thanks for any assistance.
