Overheating buzzer- any long term damaged?

Hi all

first timer

I have a 98 115hp. My overheat buzzer triggered during flushing after a fishing outing. Motor was at idle and killed it immediately. I checked a few things and tried again. Same thing. After some research, I check the poppit valve and it was stuck open. Cleaned it out and tried again with no issue.
So my question is

should I worry if any damage was done to the motor?

Did you run it for a long time while the buzzer was sounding....No you shut it down. Addressed the issue and it works as it should... The buzzer is there to alert you that there is a problem. If you ignore the buzzer and continue to use the engine then you would have done damage.

You did the right thing.
