indexing spark plugs

Having read many opinions, I am not sure whether indexing the plugs on my 94 225 ocean pro is a good idea. One mechanic said there is a loss of compression which pretty much cancels out the gain. What do you guys think?
 
Find another mechanic !!-----I do not believe that procedure is required on a 94 model.------Loss of compression ?-----Who is this mechanic ?
 
Yes only the OMC Direct injected outboards need the plugs indexed. A regular fuel injected /carbureted motor does not need that done. A Waste of time.

Thank you. I will leave that out. This motor needs help, and I will change plugs,wires, and coils if necessary, but if that doesn't work I will bring it to somebody with knowledge.
 
Some trouble shooting should be done.----Post the compression numbers.----And does spark jump a gap of 3/8" on all 6 leads, yes or no ?
