I picked up a 1984 7.5 for a good price and found out why when I went to clean it up. Lower spark plug hole has just a few threads holding the plug. Looking around I found a Helicoil save a thread repair kit 5334-14 and looks like a good way to go. Anyone use this and did it work ok? This motor has no removable head and short of taking the whole thing apart thinking this would do the job but I have never tried this before. Thanks, Jim

Sounds good! Think I will go for it. What would be best to hold the insert in? Red locktite or is something else like jb weld better?

Install the helicoil.-----Then install the sparkplug.-----No Loctite needed as sparkplugs stay put..------If you have to take the sparkplugs out every trip you need to address problems with the motor.

Usually change plugs every other year just because. Hope they don't back out. Also hoping it wont be the last set of plugs it ever needs.
