Mercruiser throttle question

I have what I believe to be a Quicksilver throttle/shift assembl, not 100% sure about that as I have tried uploading a picture but cannot. The boat is a 1988 Galaxy cuddy cabin with the 470 engine, runs great as I've rebuilt everything and fixed the design issues with the engine.... except for this shifter. Am I correct on the model shifter this boat has? It is a chrome finish with a trim button on the handle, mounts on the starboard side of my boat inner wall. Is this shifter compatible with the Quicksilver 3000 shifter? Or is it only working with the same exact shifter for the cables I have?

When you switch to a Gen2 control box you have to change the cables.
