High Oil Pressure Question on rebuilt 454 Crusader Starboard Engine

Looking for a little help. I just had this engine rebuilt and the oil pressure is currently running at 80. Any thoughts as to what could be causing this? This is the second time I have replaced the same engine, the last time it ran only three hours before it failed. The oil pan was also replaced.
Iam told the oil pressure should be at 35-55, is this correct.
The shop that rebuilt the engine is telling me 80 is okay. I am pretty new to this so I don't know what to believe.
This is a 1989 Carver Santego.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If the rebuilder gave you written instructions, and you followed them, and they say you are okay - it don't get any better than that.

It is very possible they put a high pressure oil pump in (or changed the spring)....a 'normal' oil pump will usually provide 10 PSI per 1000RPM with the bottom end in serviceable condition.

When my Crusader 454s were rebuilt 3 years ago the engine builder installed heavy duty Melling pumps. Idle pressure is around 50psi and 75-80psi at cruise rpm. No issues but I do use K&N oil filter with the heavy duty steel shell just to be safe.
