mercruiser upper-lower unit swap issue

Should have had the manual before doing the work but :
stand lower unit upright, turn shaft fully clockwise while turning prop shaft counter clockwise until locked. If shaft is not in a straight line carefully remove it and reinsert in a straight line verifying by turning fully clockwise until prop is locked CCW

Thanks, learned by doing and tried to delete before anyone wasted their time. But could only seem to edit. I stabbed it the opposite direction than I should have. I got this boat as a basket case and put it back together.

Yes, manuals are nice, if I had one for every motor, compressor, power washer, etc. I'd have to own a library. Have half a garage of them for tractors, farm equipment and vehicles..etc.
Thanks for input, Mike.
