Year and HP of this small nissan outboard

Thank You. I went to the Iboats site and found this information on the year of manufacture.

Re: what year is my nissan outboard ?

The old style serial #'s (5 digit ones) don't indicate the year. For that you'll need to contact Nissan Marine. Just go to their website at www.nissanmarine.com and go to the "Contact Us" page. From there, select the option to find your model year. Fill in the form and send it to them. They'll respond back to you w/ the model year.

But as the previous poster suggested, the model year isn't really that important. What is important is the model #. For Nissan motors, the same model # will be used over a period of several years. Therefore the model # is more important than the model year.

Yes, the HP is always in the Model. So, an M3.5xx (or NS3.5xx for Nissan) is 3.5 hp. as for the xx, it could be A, B, C, etc, and then B2, etc, depending on release version. Example: the 3.5A series has the water pump at the prop, and no shifter. The B versions have the shifter, so the WP must be on the drive shaft.
