Hi everyone.
I recently purchased a Catalina 30' with a 25hp diesel in pieces.
It's a nice looking engine but the block has seized the pistons.
I'm not a mechanic but I'm pretty handy and technically able to comprehend mechanics and so I've decided to install an electric motor and then rebuild the motor myself at my leisure.
I've attached a couple of photos. Any thoughts on how doable this is and what might be required?
All the best,

Mike

its doable.....as long as the block is NOT cracked and the cylinder walls are not gouged up (unless its sleeved).....and you have the rest of the bolt ons.....whether its going to be cost effective is another story....looks like the one piston (one that wasn't firing) may have a hole in it or be in pieces.....I'd suggest by finding out which base engine was used and the availability of parts ..... if the parts are still available, then tear it down and have a good machine shop check the castings....

If you can get parts and the engine is rebuildable, then you should think about adding a heat exchanger and a raw water pump.
