I'm new here, have a question which i have not been able to find an answer for regarding a trim sensor on a 2004 volvo sx outdrive. I am currently installing a vw tdi in a 7m trailerboat with an sx drive(i have none of the volvo wiring) the drive had a very sick looking 3 wire trim sensor so i ordered a new(aftermarket) one along with a faria analog guage. I now realise that the 3 wire sensors are for electronic guages which i do not have! have tried playing round with it but cannot get the guage to read accurately. Is there any way i can use the 3 wire sensor or do i need to fork out for a 2 wire version? could i use an electronic guage without needing a mess of wiring? trim sensor appears to give 22-700 odd ohms but i cannot find any figures online for what the guage is looking for. any advice would be greatly appreciated!
