converting an outboard boat into a inboard jet drive?

Hi I’m looking at an ambitious project as i currently have a pro craft 190CC which is a 19 foot center console boat with a 120 outboard. I live on lake that isnt the deepest in fact its quite shallow. Looking at the possibilty of taking a 120 hp suzuki jet drive setup and swaping it into my current boat. Has anyone done somthing similar?

I see issues with engine room behind the bench but should be lots of area to cut and mount the jet. As for the intake does it have to be a large rectangle grate or would two thru hull type fittings work?

Ayuh,...... Generally speakin',.... The intake is apart of the pump,......

The intake is glassed into the hull, then the main pump mounts on it,....

Can you just convert you present motor to a jet?
This will be the easiest conversion. Here are some examples.

I saw different conversion several years ago. The guy had an old 60's fiberglass boat and married the hull of a wrecked jet ski to it. He cut the bottom off the jet ski to give him the motor mounts, pump tunnel, jet drive, and transom. Then he cut the appropriately sized hole in the bottom of the boat and fiberglassed them together. If you're adventurous and good at cutting and glassing you could give this a try.

For a 19' boat you'd have to find a large 3-seat jet ski to use as the donor. Something along the lines of a 3-cylinder engine probably in the 1300cc to 1500cc range that will output around 130HP to 150HP. That might get your boat close to the performance of your prop driven 120HP outboard, but there's no guarantees.

This is not the one I saw, but it's the same idea.
