30hp evinrude stalling when accelerating

I have an 1986 30hp evinrude . Carb has been rebuilt . New fuel pump. Have good spark. Compression is 95 on both cylinders. It starts and idles perfectly . Once you start to accelerate it boys and dies like it's starving for fuel. But starts back up immediately. Could this be a timing issue. At a loss here . Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
Could be your gauge , but 95 is low.-------Perhaps slow speed mixture is too lean.-----Perhaps throttle is opening too early.-----
 
Thank you for your reply . I will check/ replace the by age and recheck. Gauge is my dad's and it's probably 30 yrs old. Thank you again.
 
Want to thank you again . Just went out and messed with it again . I wrote everything down as far as settings when I rebuilt the carb . Seems I can't count . I was a full turn off on the , I guess what's called the air screw . The screw on the side of the carb. Seems to be doing great now . Hate and love when it's just little stuff . Thank you so much again .
