Exhaust flappers. Belongs in the top of the Y pipe....

Thanks. How important is this? Do i need to fix it before i run the boat? I guess the other half is still in there. I guess this is to keep sea water from backing up into the motor if it's not running? It probably got too hot when I lost the fitting for the water on that side manifold last time out. This boat is killing me. Every time I take it out it seems like there is something else going on. Oh well. :rolleyes:
 
It`s used to keep water from rushing back up the exaust in a quick throttle down or key off situation but with proper operation you should be ok . It should be replaced . Loosen the clamps on the lower exaust coupling. Slide the hose down, remove the elephant ear , remove retaining pin and R/R the flapper. reconnect everything
