Hi this is my first post on the forum , about a year ago I bought a 1938 Gray 4 - 45 that was in a very bad way, the aluminium pistons had stuck fast to the bores a came out in several pieces ! after a new set of pistons and a lot of heartache it is running again , https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UhvT1Phf5uI
A problem I have is due to the dipstick being broken I am guessing at the oil level , I think I have put too much in as there is a leak from the front crankshaft oil seal and the pressure is rather high .
does anyone know the oil capacity of this model of engine ?
Many thanks

For something that old, I think you'd have better luck trying the sister site oldmarineengine.com....

Great video! OldMarineEngine.com might be a better place to post, but I see in the Gray Marine Handbook the Four-45 showed: "Approx. Oil Capacity, Qts: 4"

Thanks!
