Dog Clutch

Hope someone on here can help me? I have my lower unit apart and I realized the spring for the dog clutch is missing, I want to remove the clutch to make sure but there is a pin holding it to the prop shaft that needs to come out. So my question is how do I get the pin out of the clutch to check the spring and most likely install one?

It REALLY helps if you tell us what motor your working on??

A 50? 85? 125?????
Year too???

In the 50/85/125 there shouldn't be a spring.

The clutch dog is held in place with a spring pin.
It's driven out to remove the dog.

The Force Chrysler's didn't use the spring setup that Mercury uses.

As jerry says you have to drive dte pin out.

Smaler Chrysler and early Force up to 25Hp have a springloaded clutch dog.
The shifter is a cam with three different goves that has three different depth.
