New boat and motor

Two weeks ago I bought a 1975 Sears 12' aluminum boat. I have run the boat with a restored 1960 Johnson 3 H.P. engine. Nice little boat and it doesn't leak a bit. I was thinking about next season when I would buy a 10 - 15 H.P. motor for it. Then on Craig's List I found a 1952 Mercury Super 10 Cruiser. The engine is pristine and I'm only the third owner. I got the original owners manual and a flywheel puller with it. The envelope the manual was in was postmarked 10/18/1952. Any advice about this little engine would be appreciated. I think this model engine was only produced in 1952 although it looks just like all the 10 H.P. Hurricanes I have seen. The engine hasn't been run for over 30 years so I don't know what I'm in for but she's in VERY good condition. I'm going back to work to tear apart the carburetor. I'll bet it's got a cork float which will be going.

I went over the boat with muriatic acid and Scotch Brite pads. She doesn't leak a drop.

Cheers,
