Hi guys.
I have an ongoing fault with my BF40D efi 2011 outboard engine.
It starts and runs ok but will not rev above 1500 rpm if I give it full throttle it reduces power and the mil light and buzzer come on.
If I turn the ignition off it resets the mil light and buzzer but still has no power.
any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

A good start is to purchase a workshop manual which describes trouble shooting without DrH. If your motor is in limp mode there are only two things that cause that and that's overheat or oil pressure failure. Since you say the check engine light is on it could be a failed temp sensor since it would not overheat immediately. I do not like to instruct on bridging terminals to read trouble codes in the absence of the proper tool in case you mis interperate instructions.
