Throttle body

one big question is why....in other words, what don't you like about the OEM carb setup?

other big question is what is the final state, after your 'change'? just pull the carb and install a TBI unit (with minimal changes) or go for a more comprehensive ECU system?

was hoping it have better fuel consumption.

if you go with the minimal approach, you'll need a new pump, the safety switch for the pump, the TBI unit and a controller.....if you get the GM version, it will have to be used or rebuilt as they haven't been made in almost two decades.....and that brings up the support issues....so you taken a simple carb and replaced it with more complicated stuff.....if you go aftermarket new, it will be even more expensive. Either way, the tune used will still be fixed.

I'd suggest getting what you have custom tuned for the application.....when the engines leave the factory, they have no idea what hull will receive them.....and I can tell you the optimal jetting for use in a 30 day fisher is radically different than for a 36' houseboat.....and the fuel consumption is proportional to the load the engine sees....

Another option to consider would be to switch over to the edelbrock 1409's....many people have done it here and many are happy with the results....they are much easier to tune than the qjets due to design (access is easier)....
