CDI stator problems & CDI trouble shooting and checking

Can anyone post instructions for checking the cdi stator on a 2 cyl 55 hp mariner with an ohm meter and the CDI box. This motor only runs on # 2 cyl but every few seconds the #1 cyl will kick in momentarily
Has compression Gas Spark spark may be weak any help THANKS:(
 
You need to buy a DVA meter or an attachment for one (Amazon; $30). A regular ohm meter won't tell you anything.

Most of the 40/48/55 Mariners use a single shared coil and fire both cylinders at same time. If yours has the single coil look at possible bad head gasket or reed problem. If it the dual coil model it has points so check them....
