Intake manifold gasket, cork or silicone ?

Putting the intake manifold back on my 454. Fel Pro gasket set comes with cork strips for the ends. Should I use them or discard and use RTV ?
Any other tips or tricks ?

the factory recommendation is to use the gaskets from the kit over the head ports and RTV acrosss the "short ends"...
