96 Volvo Penta 3.0L 135 HP Freeze plug

Evening,

I have a Volvo Penta 3.0L I believe a 96 with a blown out and lost rear top Freeze Plug / Expansion plug missing. What size are the plugs ? 1"3/4 or 1" 5/8?

It is the top plug on the rear of the engine near the stern drive and gear wheel. Thanks guys

This would be a casting core plug or a Welch plug.

I would first find out why this Welch plug was either pushed out or had fallen out.
If pushed out due to a freeze, you'll want to look for damage at other areas.

As for the diameter, use a dial indicator caliper and measure the bore...... or buy several sizes and return the ones that do not fit.
