Wont spin unless I hit it

I have a minn kota endura 55lb

When I turn it on it won’t spin unless I give the motor a hit on the side.

I dis have a bad gasket and took on water. Replaced brushes and gaskets. I am positive the connections are good.

Could it it be from corrosion on armature?
 
take it in to a reputable shop....if the water didn't sit in it all winter, they should be able to get it back to normal....
 
I took it back apart and think I have identified the issue. The brushes did not push to the middle when I took the armature out. I think they are stuck. I believe they should almost touch or spring to the middle and they are not.
 
The brushes should make good contact with the commutator there are springs that should push them into place quite easily.
