High oil pressure 454XL Crusader

Hi All,
Need some help. Port engine is running high on oil pressure gauge. On startup, gauge reads about 70-75 (1200 rpm). I've replaced oil pressure sending unit, no change.
Any feedback on whether is is too high or what to look for?? Thanks
 
Nothing wrong with that oil pressure, "On startup, gauge reads about 70-75" ....If you really want to know what your oil pressure is, remove the sender and hook up a manual gauge and take a reading.

I believe that 70-75 psi (if actual) is excessive.

The GM twin gear oil pump is capable of producing up to 200 psi. The spring loaded relief valve is to control the pressure that the oiling system receives.

Two factors that may cause excessive pressure:
..... incorrect oil viscosity.... as in too heavy
..... malfunctioning oil pump relief valve

I agree with Chris…..... temporarily install a mechanical oil pressure gauge and see if your true reading is more in the range of 55 psi!
