1989 merc. 80elpto 3cyl hiccup/stutter at WOT

Motor starts and runs normal to 4000-4200 rpm and can cruise there with no issues but if I push it to 4400+ I get a fairly hard hiccup or stutter every 3-10 seconds????? New plugs. Fuel filter. Plugs are dry so it's firing. Props not spun. New stator 2 seasons ago......???

Run with a timing light hooked to # 1 and test run.----If you get steady fire then repeat with # 2 cylinder.

I'll try to get one but all I have it a bolt meter Nd test light not a timing light
