Looking for some advice on an issue I am having with my propeller not moving when the engine is in the locked down running position.
Its a 1995 40hp Mercury.
This year I took it out of storage and did all the regular maintenance to it as usual and put it on a water hose to run it a bit and noticed that the propeller will not turn when the motor is in a locked down position.
Checking everything over, I moved the motor to a half-tilt position and the propeller began to turn in proportion to the speed adjustment. However, when I returned it to the straight down locked position as it would be in to run on the water, the propeller will not turn.
Any advice/help greatly appreciated.
