Hello,. I am new to the forum, I want to share with y'all our experience repairing a 2004 Minkota Powerdrive 65 pound Trolling Motor. Motor was diagnosed with a failed main controller board.

We were told by local repair shop controller board was bad and that the part #2304045 is obsolete and no longer available. We verified this with Minkota. Noone offered any solutions. https://northlandmarine.com/products/24-volt-control-board-2304045

We watched a few videos and came across this one of a gentleman who converted an older model Powerdrive to use the new Pronav feature. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QNKXK_DZpc

We concluded that the only real difference between the older controller board and the newer version 2 (after 2007) controller board is the plug style is different. The newer board uses a round plug to attach the foot pedal and Co-pilot where the version 1 uses an oval plug.
So we ordered this version 2 controller from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=minn+kota+part+2884058

We cut the connector from the old controller board and spliced it into the wires of the the new board matching wire color for wire color except the old board had a white wire where the new board has a blue. We decided to splice white to blue. Note that we did not remove the new round plug thinking that would give option to use new foot pedal, Co-pilot and Pronav.

We installed new board in place of old one. Tested first with foot pedal. Works perfectly. Next we connected the Co-pilot. That also works perfectly.

So the obsolete Version 1 motor is not so obsolete after all. It seems Minn Kota would have been more forthcoming with this solution.

I hope this helps someone!

Was your motor a 12 volt or a 24/36 volt? Did the kit you ordered from Amazon you referenced include the remote?
i got the same runaround from minn Kota that you couldn’t replace the square connectors to the round connector units. Sure hope this works
thanks for the info
