"79 Evinrude 100HP

Does anyone own or know about this engine; it came with the boat. It runs good; appears to have been used in fresh water; (no rust or corrosion in or out). 100's were only made 2 years. Serial#1000999
This is my first Evinrude experience; so any info (Good or Bad) would be appreciated. Thanks!
 
It is a good motor, they may have only made the 100 for 2 yrs but the basic design was made for many yrs. I would change the water pump and get some BRP engine tuner and follow the instructions on it. The main problem with those was rings breaking. Use the Engine tune to help minimize that other wise a good motor.
 
Thanks for the quick reply! The Model# I don't know; serial# listed. I do know that the WP has been replaced; plugs and tune up also.The unit has been well taken care considering its age. The only other info I came up with is the cover came in dark or light blue or white. Was going to ask about a hydrofoil on it; but that is further down the road. Will be standing by. Thanks again!
