Default Lower exhaust housing and lower unit

I have an E200TXECM that I just rebuilt the waterpump on and when I went to take it apart, I noticed a small gap between the two housings. It has been a while since I have done this , and never on an outboard this size. When I put it back together it fit the same way with the gap, and has small metal tabs that seem to hold it apart. I just bought this boat and motor, is this gap correct or could this be the wrong lower unit.
