41p-a hard starting

My 41P-A is difficult to start when it is cold. It starts quickly all day after the first start of the day.

I've been chasing this problem for too long. Any recommendations?

One reasonably common issue amongst that generation of Volvo (not sure about the 41P-A though) is a pinhole in the primer pump diaphragm. This can allow air into the fuel rails and make starting hard after the engine has been sitting.

Thank you. This is helpful information.

Is the "primer pump" the same as the fuel pump and fuel filter? If not, where is it?

The primer pump is the manual one (usually a little lever on that age Volvo I think) that you use to manually prime the fuel system after a filter change etc.
