Pre-alpha oil leak

Was draining out the boat yesterday and noticed a small amount of gear oil leaking out from behind my prop. After removing the prop I expected to see evidence of oil leaking from the prop shaft seal but it was clean. No trace line.

I then drained the gear oil which revealed a small amount of water had gotten into the drive. 3-5 ounces if I had to guess.

To me it looks like the oil is running down from the upper half into the lower half and seeping out at the prop. Or perhaps it’s leaking passed the carrier bearing?

Any ideas?

Still going to pull the whole thing to inspect, just hoping for a little insight.

water pump base seals, quad ring seal, upper driveshaft seals

a pressure test should help locate the issue....

FYI....... a pressure test must be performed with the gear oil drained.

Thanks for the replies.. I was contemplating doing a pressure test but considering the age of the boat and the condition of some of these seals it would probably be best to just rebuild the whole dang thing..

ordered the Spanners for the driveshaft and bearing carrier along with rebuild kits for both upper and lower units.
