OMC 5.0 or 5.8

I’m thinking that the firing order is different between the 5.0 and 5.8.

5.0 firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8
5.8 firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

Assuming that this is a flywheel AFT installation, follow the spark plug wire from the stbd side front spark plug to the distibutor cap. That will be number one cylinder.
335 series Ford distributor shaft rotates counterclockwise.

#1 cylinder is always the furthest cylinder forward ..... or opposite of the PTO side.

Starboard side from front will be 1-2-3-4,
Port side from front will be 5-6-7-8.

Although I do not have a number to reference, I believe the 5.8 is about 1-3/4 inches wider at the head spacing than that of the 5.0.
