What is it worth? 50 HP 4 stroke EFI Evinrude

I am looking at a 2000 Evinrude 4 stroke EFI motor. no history on the engine is available. Going to do a compression test on it to try and get a sense of how many hours are on it. Just wondering what everyone thinks it is worth in good running condition?
 
Suzuki built machine.-----See what parts are available and at what price.-----Great motors when running properly.----Can not tolerate a solid collision with rocks.
 
I think the guy is asking $2800. That seems high to me for a motor that he has not history on. I have never shopped for an outboard before so i do not have a clue what it is worth.
