2001 Honda 90hp water in oil

How much water? If she's been running cold due to stuck open Tstat, it could just be condensate build up in the crankcase.

If you're positive it's water intrusion, then it could be a failed water passage seal.

Pretty much any water cooled outboard is going to have a place where water comes up from the pump, through a tube, up through the oil case and into the engine block.

Copy and paste the link below and look for item #4. As you might guess, the failure of that grommet or any of those gaskets depicted in the diagram, could result in water intrusion into the engine oil.

I am NOT saying this is what's happening but just pointing out that it's one possibility.

I am NOT the go to guy on this engine since I've never torn one down. There may be other places water could enter the oil sump so, hopefully, one of the other guys here may have that info.

P.S. I'm not positive that link will work. If not go to boats.net - Honda outboards- select 2001- select your model and then open the MOUNT CASE OIL PAN.
When I (ahem) "upgraded" to the new S8 phone....I lost the ability to supply useable links to this forum. I have no Idea why.
My apologies.
